The Windmills of my Mind
Oct. 30th, 2008 09:04 amIn days gone by, when the world was much larger
My mother snuggled me close at her side
Cozily nestled amidst cedar shavings
A couple days later, my eyes opened wide
This one is partly the fault of
ladymondegreen, who responded to my late-Sunday-evening grumbling about sleeplessness by saying "Hamsters?" I slept poorly again that night, and sleeplessness turned to introspection to meta-reflection.
I need to find some way of getting the hamsters in my brain to stop running in their wheels when I'm trying to sleep.
My mother snuggled me close at her side
Cozily nestled amidst cedar shavings
A couple days later, my eyes opened wide
Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, pitter-pat go my footsteps
Rolling and rolling the big metal wheel
Running, running, farther and faster
That's how I get hamster chow for my meal
