Fridge repaired... hmm.
Dec. 4th, 2009 11:17 amI called the fridge-repair guy recommended by
kattale . He and his assistant were here less than a day later, and fixed the problem quickly, and the price seemed quite reasonable. (
kattale , he asked me to say hello to you.)
On the other hand... While he was moving the fridge out from its niche, he said something about "it must be female." I said "sorry, what was that?" and he replied that it was being cantakerous and not moving. I was slightly appalled, glanced at his (female) assistant, and said, "I don't think I want to go there." He replied that he was just poking his assistant.
After he'd moved the fridge out, I decided that I might as well clean the floor and wall in the niche -- not that they were particularly dirty, but I figured I should take the opportunity. I mentioned that I'd messed up my back a few months ago, wasn't sure how. He replied "Was she good, at least?" Nonplussed, I replied, "I wish."
So, yeah, I can recommend the guy for his work. Not so much for his conversation.

Date: 2009-12-04 10:02 pm (UTC)He usually would come with one of his young sons, although I imagine that they're grown now. He was always a bit overly flirty with Mum, and flirty with me, and I would give him the evil eye which he would find funny. I'm trying to remember of I warned you his conversation wasn't always appropriate - it's never been a problem before because it was at least friendly or flirty, not nasty.
You could complain - but since he runs his own company, the farthest it would get would be back to him. Maybe if you accompanied your complaint with an explanation of why you were not impressed (especially with treatment of said apprentice), and how you won't be going back to him because of it?
I'm very sorry that my rec caused you to experience that. I'm not impressed either. :( But I'm glad that you have a working fridge again, that is something.

Date: 2009-12-05 07:26 pm (UTC)sound like he's just one of the clueless when it comes to respect. i work with a few of those unfortunately. they just don't get it & probably never will. i'd say next time be busy with something while he does the work he's hired for ;)
*hugs*
