The case against Grenville Christian College has been decided in favour of the plaintiffs.

The judge was fairly blunt in her comments.

Students could get in trouble for not smiling enough.1  Or for smiling too much.2  Among other things.  For being "too proud" of some accomplishment, say; that's a great way to discourage achievement.

Trouble, in this case, could mean public shaming, among other things.  As in "hauled up in front of the entire school, in assembly, and ritually shamed by the staff, with the rest of the students encouraged to contribute to the abuse".  A friend of mine is a survivor of the school.  She still freaks out at the thought of being the centre of attention.

1. I.e., the floggings will continue until morale improves.
2. I.e., don't try to fake being happy.

Yeah, that was definitely a good verdict.

One of my friends went through that, and what he told me lines up with what the plaintiffs said.

I'd say it's the school that needed to be exorcised.

That seems like a good idea.
