Local pizza
Dec. 5th, 2007 09:30 amBest to avoid the Pizza Hut at 1550 Merivale Rd. (just north of Meadowlands) for a few days. It seems that they've just had a change of ownership, and almost all the staff are new and being trained from itch (i.e., they haven't mastered "scratch" yet). Service from new servers ranges from erratic to non-existent; kitchen staff are... well, the standard pan pizzas (the basic Pizza Hut staple) came out very delayed, somewhat malformed, and showing evidence of physical abuse.
To give credit where it's due, the one experienced server in the place was working hard trying to sort things out, and the manager tried to make things right. Over the evening, we went from a 20% discount to "you won't have to pay" to "... and here's a gift certificate".
But for now... for eat-in, go to the new Colonnade Pizza at 1463 Merivale (by the new Food Basics) -- slightly more expensive than PH, but much better food. For take-out, try Merivale Pizza at 1610C Merivale (same building as the former Star of India, now Malabar Costumes).
