I'd been intending to go to work this afternoon, but I'm glad that I called first (at [livejournal.com profile] mentisiterinvit's suggestion).  The workplace is nowhere near downtown, but they're completely shut down: no internet, no phones, no power.

I'm a bit stunned about the situation.  I truly didn't expect anything like the attack downtown to happen here.

Oh dear, I commented on the journal entry of another Canadian person with a comment that worked fine for his situation, but I meant it for you. I said that I was glad you were all right, that I was very sorry it had happened, and that I wouldn't have expected it either. Belatedly, I say these things here. I hope work is back up and normal soon.

Good call on calling. The power outages were unrelated but certainly annoying. Dan had to do the emergency shut down and then bring it all back up again almost immediately. At least he hadn't ventured into the parking lot that was hunt club last night. Very tedious!

I'd heard that the power outages were unrelated. I'm a bit skeptical of that.
