He was, for reals, a Ph.D. mathematician who taught at Iowa State University for 25+ years. Whether that makes him an "accredited scientist" is a matter of personal opinion, since there isn't a cabal who dictate who is and who is not a scientist (notwithstanding Abian's paranoia regarding scientific cabals). Or at least I'm not aware of such a cabal. Or at least I'm not going to admit it.

Although given that he's making with the "Oh hi I'm physics" thing and a phd in physics and phd in math are hardly the same thing then I'd still go with no.
