When I woke up this morning, the sun was shining, birds were chirping.

I guess all that stuff last night about planes crashing and buildings collapsing was just a dream...

My copy of the last Harry Potter book will arrive in a couple of days.  I've got other stuff to read, I didn't feel like paying for express shipping, and it's not going to make a great deal of difference in terms of when I'll finish reading the book or the chance of my being exposed to spoilers before I do.  If I'd thought about the matter a bit more before ordering it, I might have remembered that Loblaws stores were carrying the previous book at 50% off cover price; from a bit of telephone work I did yesterday, it sounds like they're doing the same for this one.  [Edit: Yes, the Loblaws price is $22.98, copies in the store.  Amazon price $22.50, delivered to my home in a couple of days.  Oh, well.]

I did have an odd thought this morning: I wonder if Dumbledore's image is limited to wandering around between his special portrait paintings?  Or can he get into any of his pictures?  Is every Slytherin chocolate-frog card collector a potential security risk for the bad guys?  Litter from old newspapers?

I suppose I'll find out soon.

Two things....

1) on the bus today I saw a hat that reminded me of one of your toys.... IT was a ball cap, with a 4" sq. solar panel attached to the top "button", and an opening for a fan cut into the visor.

2) I got HP for -$1 today- reg $19 at Zellers, less $10 if you had points on your HBC card, and they gave me a $10 off Back to School stuff card. Since I will be buying stuff there anyway, I actually made a buck. Who would have guessed!

Hmm. As far as I can tell from the on-line advertising, the Zellers price is $29, less $10 if you trade in the 80,000 points (where ordinarily you could trade in 80,000 points for a $10 Indigo gift card). And you get the HBC gift card. Did someone at the store goof?
