You do realize that some of the...people...we're jointly complaining about will take that rather sarcasm-intended avatar you've tacked on here and use it without either realizing or caring, if they do know that their bigotries were intended to be mocked by that self-same avatar?

They strike me as just fanatical enough for that.

I'd heard about the SDCC expedition plan a day or two earlier. Seems like something with the potential for...entertainment, shall we say?

I keep imagining costumed attendees in Jedi kit walking up to them and saying "These aren't the geeks you're looking for. Move along."

My concern is that one of their goals in these stunts is to provoke confrontations which they can use to justify lawsuits, which they use to fund their operations. The SDCC attendees probably include a number of people who are sufficiently undersocialized and confrontational that they won't pay attention to warnings about how not to engage the phelpsies.

A lot of our fellow fen have likely gotten the word via their own channels, although it does only require one person who didn't get the Clues in time to trigger the lawsuits.

As I say, the problem is likely to be with the folks who ignore such warnings. We both know several people who are NOT good with "look, don't get involved" stuff.
