From the sun?

On this morning's The Bottom Line, David Suzuki said that tidal energy (along with all other energy sources used by humans except geothermal) "ultimately comes from the sun".

I'm somewhat resistant to this description.

Listening to the show now...and not quite sure what to make of what I'm hearing yet. It might take another session of listening to it from start to finish before I can figure out if there's a debate needed here.
