Mr. Popper's Penguins was one of my favourite books when I was young. It was still fun when I reread it a few months ago.
I see that a movie adaptation, with Jim Carrey, is about to be released. From the description, I'm not optimistic about my enjoying it.

Date: 2011-05-26 08:31 pm (UTC)A film version starring Jim Carrey? It'll be crap, updated for a modern audience, with no clue what a vaudeville show was, much less any clue about travelling on a steam train, or Antarctic exploration, and with none of the charm of the original.
One a side note, anyone know where I can find a copy of 'The Sugar Mouse Cake'?
